Donald and Doris Fisher Established Gap in 1969. The Gap is an American clothing and accessories retailer based in San Francisco, California. Gaps headquarter situated in San Francisco, CA, U.S. A popular phrase “the Generation Gap” used to describe the difference between baby boomers and their parents. The Gap’s name was originated from that article.

• In 1969, the first ever Gap store was opened in San Francisco.
• Donald Fisher opened second store in San Jose, California in 1970. Gap first head quarter had been established in Burlingame, California.
• Gap began to sell private label merchandise in its stores in 1974. Gap had 25 stores at that time.
• Gap introduces the labels “Fashion Pioneers”, “Eaton Hill”, and “Foxtails” which are sold in stores with the arrival of 1977.
• Gap was started with 4 employees in 1969. As of September 2008, number of employees raised to 150,000 approximately operates over 3100 stores all over the world.

A logo should not only simple and recognizable but also logo should have some meaning. Company is using company’s name ‘GAP’ as a Company logo. The Gap logo is easily recognizable for their customers. Gap is also a common English word with multiple definitions.

What a load of gullible people you really are! It is plain to see that this is fabricated hype and it has done exactly what it was set out to do – and that is create free publicity based on people’s gullibility and stupidity. Viral marketing is old hat, don’t fool for it.

Who ever cares about a company logo certainly has a few screws loose.
