Gerard Philips was established the company named Philips in 1891. Gerard Philips was a maternal cousin of Karl Marx in the Netherlands. Light bulb was his first product. Other products such as vacuum tubes, was started to manufacture by the Philips Company in 1920. Electric Razor was introduced By the Philips Company in 1939.
• Audio Compact Cassette tape was introduced by the Philips Company in 1963, and it was Successful.
• The first combination Portable Radio and Cassette Recorder was launched by Philips, which is known as the boom box now.
• The world’s first home Video Cassette Recorder introduced by Philips in 1972. The N1500 could record 30 minutes or 45 minutes with bulky video cassettes.
• Philips slogan was “Let’s make things better”, which has been replaced by “Sense and Simplicity” in 2004.
The Philips Company Logo has been consistent since the 1930s. The first Philips shield made in 1938. The Philips logo is representing the company all over the world. Philips launched slogan “sense and simplicity” in 2004, which shows commitment to quality for their customers. Philips logo is registered trademark of Royal Philips Electronics.
Philips brand was ranked the 43rd most valuable brand in Inter brand’s 2008 ranking in best global brands.
