Journey of American Idol started in 2002 by Simon Fuller, the creator of this reality show. It was aired on fox for the first time and still holds its place on the similar channel. The tenth season of American Idol has made it the only show that has remained number one for six consecutive seasons.

Season 01: Kelly Clarkson (2002)

The winner of first season, Kelly Clarkson enjoys a tremendous singing career after becoming American Idol. She released two singles, immediately after the finale; one of them called “A Moment like this” broke a record of thirty eight years held by “The Beatles” for the biggest leap to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. She has also won two Grammy Awards.
Season 02: Ruben Studdard (2003)
Ruben Studdard won the second season of American Idol with a small margin from Clay Aiken. Studdard’s coronation song “Flying Without Wings” ranked second in the U.S Hot 100 and surprisingly, it was Clay Aiken’s single entitled “This Is the Night” that ranked first in Billboard Hot 100.
Season 03: Fantasia Barrino (2004)

Over 65 million votes were cast in season three finale, more than the combined votes of first two seasons. Fantasia’s first single, released after the finale, ranked number one in Billboard Hot 100.
Season 04: Carrie Underwood (2005)

Carrie released her coronation song with Bio Bice, the runner. She became the most successful Idol contestant in The U.S for high album sales, over 12 million units.
Season 05: Taylor Hicks (2006)
This season is the most successful season in terms of rating. Taylor Hicks was the winner with Katharine McPhee as the runner up. “Do I Make You Proud” was Taylor’s first single.
Season 06: Jordin Sparks (2007)

Jordin is the youngest winner of American Idol. She won the competition at the age of 17.
Season 07: David Cook (2008)

This was the first season in which the winner “David Cook” and the runner up “David Archuleta”
never came in the bottom during any week before finale.
Season 08: Kris Allen (2009)

Kris Allen was signed to 19 entertainment/Jive Records. He released his coronation song with Adam Lambert called “No Boundaries.”
Season 09: Lee DeWyze (2010)

Lee DeWyze had never been in bottom 2 or 3, any week before finale, but his albums failed to receive any significant sales.
Season 10: Who’s your Winner?
Season 10 is judged by Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson. This season has entered its last stage. Top three contestants are: Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. In finale, each contestant will sing three songs: one personal choice, one Jimmy Lovine’s choice and one chosen by judges.
